Reasons to be cheerful:  Montreal's The Barr Brothers have a new album coming out in October.  So far, their supporting tour has them coming nowhere near the American South, but that's okay - these things can change.  They put on a great set Sunday at Pickathon (webcast by KEXP) and if their subsequent sets are nearly as great, it will be worth waiting for them to come on down.

Operators is the new band from Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs, Divine Fits).  I saw the webcast of their set at Pickathon yesterday, and Operators might very well be his best effort yet.
