We passed up this year's Hopscotch Festival in Raleigh and the opportunity to hear Godspeed You! Black Emperor in the pouring rain in order to stay home in Atlanta and hear Godspeed perform in the more intimate setting of Variety Playhouse.
The next evening, September 12, we heard Atlanta's Oryx & Crake at their CD release party at The Earl, while back at Hopscotch, Elisa Ambrogio (Magik Markers) performed a set featuring Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance) on guitar, Nathan Bowles on drums, and Jenifer Gelineau on violin. The complete set has been uploaded for streaming over at NYC Taper, who always can be counted on for superb coverage of the Hopscotch Festival.
Ambrogio will be performing in Atlanta at The Drunken Unicorn on October 31, Halloween, the same night, unfortunately, as Quiet Hounds at Ponce City Market.
