What with this damn bat-flu and all, there's no more live music and no touring artists. Even KEXP is having to recycle old sessions to feature in their Live on KEXP series. This one is from February 2020.
We previously posted Sessa singing this song at the KCRW studio, so it's only fair to post KEXP's version.
According to his Bandcamp page,
Sessa's songs are sung in Portuguese, with visceral, sensual lyrics in the vain of Caetano Veloso, and the melodic flourishes of Jobim. However, the music gets a deliberate minimalist treatment rarely found in contemporary Brazilian music, more reminiscent of the bareness of Leonard Cohen, with touches of tropicalia and free jazz.
I like this song because even though I know it's not what he's singing, the lyrics sounds to me like "Meow, Grandeza."
