Deep Sea Diver

Deep Sea Diver at MFNW (RIP) 2013
Another band that I love, in addition to Other Lives, Jonathan Richman, and The Decemberists, is Seattle's Deep Sea Diver.  The band has a new album coming out this year (with a tour to follow?) and here are a couple of the new songs performed live at Portland's Mississippi Studios.

If you're new to the band and need a Deep Sea Diver 101 introduction/orientation, you can do far worse than their Always Waiting EP.

Dude, I Was There!

Magic Mouth At Mississippi Studios, Sept. 7, 2013
It nearly went unmentioned among the frenzy of all the other activities of that day and that week, but at the Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) party at Mississippi Studios on Saturday, Sept. 7 (was it really a whole week ago?), Portland's Magic Mouth performed.  This was my first exposure to them - the first I had even heard of them, I imagine like yourself.

Be prepared to be amazed.  Their EP, Devil May Care, drops September 20th.

More Low (Though Not Lower)

Oh. look.  Minneapolis Mormons Low have released Just Make It Stop, the first single from their forthcoming album, the Jeff Tweedy-produced The Invisible Way.  The song is reportedly but one of five songs with lead vocals by Mimi.

Low are touring in support of the album, but are not coming anywhere even near the American South.  However, they will be playing Portland's Mississippi Studios on Friday, April 5.
