Mutual Benefit at Shaky Knees, May 10, 2014 |
Mutual Benefit will be opening for Quilt at The Earl on Saturday, September 10.
Mutual Benefit is Jordan Lee and has been described as "a one-man-band or a sprawling collective, depending on where he is and who is around that day." We saw Mutual Benefit as a four-person outfit at Shaky Knees back in 2014 when they were the first band to perform at the festival; they played probably the shortest and quietest set of the day. Since they, Lee has released a new album Skip A Sinking Stone, featuring the song Lost Dreamers.
As I have been saying. Mutual Benefit's September 10 set at The Earl will be the night after Angel Olsen performs at Terminal West and the night before Joanna Newsom and Alela Diane appear at The Buckhead Theater. The Quilt/Mutual Benefit tour starts in Athens the night before The Earl gig and uncharacteristically for most tours nowadays, actually focuses on the American South, with dates in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, and Kentucky, before moving on to some off-the-beaten-path destinations in the Northeast (Buffalo and Kingston, New York and Toronto, Canada) and thence to points beyond.
