Lemolo

Meagan Grandall in Alpharetta, Georgia, 11/24/2015
Lemolo (pronounced Le-MO-lo, not LEM-olo) played last Monday night at The Masquerade and unfortunately we didn't go (work night and the Givers show the next evening).  An interesting thing about The Masquerade set was that it was one of the very few dates on Lemolo's current tour that wasn't a house show.  Either Atlanta is such a big market for Lemolo that they would have overwhelmed a house and had to do the show at the Purgatory stage of Masquerade instead or Meagan Grandall doesn't trust Atlantans enough to play a show in someone's house.

Actually, either scenario doesn't sound likely considering how few people came to Lemolo's last show in Atlanta, a free show at The Drunken Unicorn opening for Chris Staples, and that they're playing house shows in New Orleans, Tampa, Dallas, and other cities far from their Seattle home base.

Lemolo have just released a new album, Red Right Return, and their current tour of mostly house shows appears to be based on a conscious decision to present their intimate music in a setting where it could best be appreciated.  However, this decision still doesn't shed much light on their selection of The Masquerade as their Atlanta venue, with all of the new DIY and independent venues opening up they could have played at in this town.  In any event, hopefully the conclusion of this tour will lead to another tour playing clubs and other larger venues, and hopefully that second tour will pass through Atlanta again so that we can catch them the next time around.
