| Speedy Ortiz at Shaky Knees 2015 |
Even if the band Speedy Ortiz isn't the new Metric (they aren't), a case could me made that Emily Haines was to 2005 what Sadie Dupuis is to 2015. Every decade needs a literate, intelligent, pretty blonde to lead a rock band.
Here's the Speedy Ortiz video for their new song Swell Content. At 1:50, the song's already over by the time you've got it figured out and I propose that there's not nearly enough videos about elementary school art teachers. I'm sure my friend Leslie would agree to that (happy belated birthday, Leslie!). You might want to check out their video for The Graduates, too, to see them cover some of the same material but from a collegiate point of view.
Sadie Dupuis and Speedy Ortiz will return to Atlanta for a set at the Drunken Unicorn on December 16.
