Destroyer vs. The Drunken Unicorn

Musical genius Dan Bejar, our second favorite New Pornographer after Kathryn Calder, has a new album out as Destroyer titled Poison Season.  The album includes the song Times Square and the video for the song is a trippy stop-motion exploration of je ne sais quoi. but literal interpretation has never been Bejar's strong suit.

Destroyer will be performing at The Loft on October 9, going up against Pure Bathing Culture and Braids at The Drunken Unicorn.  I still haven't made my decision on which show to attend, and the more I think about it, the more I balance the pros and cons of each, the harder the decision gets.

I mean, there's no denying Bejar's unique musical gifts, but a show at The Drunken Unicorn is so much more intimate and special than The Loft.

Post-Script:  Scientists have just determined that it is Wild Ones, not Braids, that will be opening for Pure Bathing Culture (doh!).  Braids will be playing 529 a couple of nights later, but having Wild Ones on the bill with PBC doesn't make the decision any easier.
